My Best of the Year contents

I'm still waiting on a response from one author for the SF book. And I hope to announce another book in the next week or so.

As ever, there were a number of great stories I couldn't use, either for contractual reasons, or because of length (i.e. Dean McLaughlin's remarkable "Tenbrook of Mars"), or for other reasons, like that the book is full of great stories and I just couldn't stuff any more in!

I'm tickled pink to see "Shoggoths in Bloom" in the contents - I was really, really impressed with that story.

By the way, are you aware that "The Road to Levenshir" was previously published in a WOTF volume several years ago? At least, a story of that title was.

I'm very happy to see my namesake do so well.

I love "Blue Vervain Murder Ballad #2: Jack of Diamonds"—I'm very glad to see it on this list. The same goes for "26 Monkeys, Also the Abyss," actually.

Last SF story ...

The final story in my SF volume will be Garth Nix's "Infestaion", from THE STARRY RIFT.

A very nice line-up.

But I hope someone puts "Tenbrook of Mars" in a best-of collection. Whoever does will have sold me a book, at least...
